• Necco manufactures 6 billion Sweethearts Conversation Hearts each year, the majority of which are sold during the six-week period between Jan. 1 and Valentine's Day. The candies are made from late February through January of the following year. About 100,000 pounds are produced per day.

The United Way of Hancock County's Young Leaders Society will host an after-work bowling event at Ali's Alley, 132 E. Crawford St., from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25.

The Hancock County Retired Teachers Association will award $750 scholarships to four 2010 graduating seniors who attend Findlay City and Hancock County high schools and are planning to major in education at an accredited college or university.
