Teenager indicted for shooting house
Hanco EMS
By JORDAN CRAVENS

staff writer

A Findlay teenager has been indicted in connection with a May 7 shooting at 427 Washington St., when at least 10 bullets were fired at a two-story home.

Trent J. Deal, 19, is charged with improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, a second-degree felony.

Deal was indicted Tuesday by a Hancock County grand jury, but his indictment was sealed, or kept "secret," to allow authorities time to arrest him.

"Secret" indictments are not made a public record until the person is arrested.

Two people were at the house when the shots were fired: Steven McFadden, 20, who lives there, and a 7-year-old relative. No one was injured, police said.

Deal is also facing two other charges: improperly furnishing a firearm to a minor, a fifth-degree felony, and intimidation of a witness, a third-degree felony.

He allegedly supplied Ruben J. Sanchez Jr., 18, with a handgun on May 7.

County Prosecutor Mark Miller said he could not elaborate on the meaning of Deal allegedly giving the handgun to Sanchez, but said charges against more people are possible.

Deal is also accused of intimidating a female witness on May 7. Miller said he made threats to her.

Deal was being held Friday in the Hancock County jail on a $33,750 bond, according to the sheriff's office.

everyone should pay for their part!
“ Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. No one really knows what happened that night but the people who were there, but they are liars bc they are scared now! Why is it that 1person is in jail when 5 were supposedly in the car? The other person who also was named a shooter in the paper is still on our streets. And just because one person is willing to talk they walk free? Even with heroin trafficing charges you can snitch your way out of a drive by when you were the driver. That's not justice for anyone. Gangs have no rules. They do whatever they want bc they get away with it. ”

“ what those wanna be gangsters? it all starts at home. i know of another Deal who is always in the paper. Prob got the gun off one of the bad checks she has written. and then he gave it to boo boo magoo and he tripped cause his shorts and boxers was all they way to his shoes. He shoulda got 25 to life for that now hes a bad boy with a rap sheet. when he gets out he'll think hes hardcore. Maybe for a lil scre tactic he should go to a murder scene and help clean up ”

“ Gang members are drug dealers!!

FPD knows this......so they need to start getting on the ball and start sweeping the "knowns"
They have to start somewhere and this kid does have affliation with known gang members!

This problem here and lack of doing just needs to truly be addressed to a higher judicial system, then just maybe something can be done!

The petty drug dealers lead to the big dealers!

This teenager better realize now, "was it really all worth it?"
He may be heading to prison? He will probably be sent to prison!!
Hopefully he can turn his life around and get away from all the uneccesary nonsense!

This is a very serious crime but it should of been a felonious assault charge with some kind of intent charge!

“ the Findlay detectives are a joke Jay Meyers should be drug detective instead of a criminal detective all he does is try to bust petty drug dealers for other things rather than busting the people holding up the drug dealers who are actually in the gangs. Findlay needs to start worrying about all the heroin. sure there are more heroin dealers/users than gang members in Findlay. this person was in no gang and for Findlay to have a gang task force is a joke. they cant even stop the non gang affiliates let alone an actually gang affiliate. you want the gangs out you gotta take the heroin/crack dealers out!! wake up findlay pd! ”

“ I am aware that the situation itself is not funny. You are right, it is very serious. However, I think you missed my point. I was laughing at your comment about CSI getting it done in an hour. What you see on TV is not real, it is scripted. Police investigations are not as easy as what you see on TV--the detectives have to provide solid evidence to the Court. If that evidence is not there, then there is no case to present. That was the only point I was trying to make...it's not as easy as you see on TV. I hope that justice is served in this situation. I also hope that anyone with information would assist the detectives in building a case rather than condemning them. ”

“ It is a gang situation.....cops know but they just aren't putting that info out there!

I am glad you got a laugh.....its not a funny situation, its the truth!

If these "gang members" were investigated more throughly this could of definitely BEEN PREVENTED!!

I don't need to sit in a courtroom, if that were the case then I would get the job DONE!

This should of been considered something similiar to a felonious assault!!
I know the law!! Its almost similiar to a drive by but instead it was done on foot!!
Still classified a second degree felony.

It should of been classified a second degree attempted murder charge!
There was a child in the dwelling!

“ How do you know it's a gang situation? If you have relevant information to share with the officers, have you done so? Also, your statement, "CSI would of had better odds solving in an hour!!" made me laugh...maybe there was some implied sarcasm there, but if CSI is your idea of reality, maybe you should get away from your TV and go sit in court sometime. The "thugs" that you refer to also have rights, whether we like it or not. ”

“ ...this is a gang situation

I thought Findlay has a "gang task force"?
You need to start watching all these sorry kids who "claim" a gang!!
Cause that's all they are is kids!!
They all have the "gang signs" tattooed on them and the police know who they are!!

Its time to do something FPD and the detectives!
Oh and get the shootings solved from last summer!!
Why do you continue to let these thugs walk the streets?

Who knows how long that will take to get "solved?" It's been well over a year now and still no arrest or arrests have been made!!
CSI would of had better odds solving in an hour!!

Park Mound Neighborhood.....I feel some sympathy for you.
I wouldn't of let this go on this long without a fight!!
Time to address a higher system to get some justice!
