Docket

From the public records of the Findlay Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Office:

Police Department

A man was arrested for assaulting another male at Comfort Suites, 3700 Speedway Drive. Two others were charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest when police investigated the Friday fracas.

A man, 18, was charged with having a drug pipe and underage possession of beer during a Friday traffic stop in the 800 block of South Cory Street.

Weekend domestic discord occurred on Midland Avenue, South Blanchard Street and South Main Street.

A mobility scooter was stolen from a parking lot Friday at Senior Towers, 806 Bright Road.

Coins and a stereo were swiped Saturday from cars at 1518 Parkside Place and 2117 Candlewick Drive.

A Doune Drive male was taken into custody for domestic violence after punching his girlfriend Saturday.

A Findlay man was incarcerated Saturday for violating a protection order, after texting his estranged wife. He also was in trouble for possessing a drug pipe.

A city youth, 17, was cited Sunday for having a marijuana pipe during a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Lima Street.

A person clad in black broke a window at 1972 Woodridge Crescent before fleeing Sunday.

Sheriff's Office

Charges were being considered after two household members hit each other at a Hancock County 24 residence Dec. 27.

Juveniles in woods threw snowballs at vehicles traveling on Torrey Pines on Friday.

Domestic disputes were reported recently on North Main Street, in Amanda Township near Mount Blanchard, and in Pleasant Township near McComb.

A rural Rawson resident was facing an allegation of violating a protection order on Christmas for repeatedly phoning his ex-girlfriend.

A stereo and iPod cord were purloined from an auto Dec. 28 outside 1311 E. Bigelow Ave.

Cash, a sweeper and a Steelers' football were missing Tuesday from 21432 Hancock County 26.

“ Feather did you bother to read the docket? Sounds like maybe the guys working the street have been busy. Should the break in of your car take priority over some of these other calls? Maybe you should approach City Council and ask them to hire more officers. Did you know that the PD is working under minimum staffing? You pay taxes for Police service, but the minimum amount of guys can only handle active calls, there is not much time left for proactive work.

News Briefs Firefighters discover 20 marijuana plants in house
After fighting a house fire early Monday at 815 Howard St., firefighters found 20 marijuana plants in the residence.

"They ran across it and called us," said police Sgt. Justin Hendren with the Hancock County METRICH Drug Enforcement Unit.

Police seized all 20 plants, and Hendren said charges are pending.

High-powered growing lights, fans, and a box filled with dried marijuana were also found in the house, according to a police report.

Investigators said an electrical short started the fire before 3 a.m. Monday.

The blaze caused an estimated $12,000 in damage to the residence, owned by Amanda Crawford. No one was injured, according to the Findlay Fire Department.


Carey announces holiday closing
CAREY -- Carey offices, including administrative, income tax and utilities, electric, wastewater treatment plant, and public works, will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

The curbside recycling program will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 7-9.


Findlay trooper named sergeant
Trooper Jacob L. Fletcher, assigned to the Findlay post of the State Highway Patrol, was promoted to sergeant Wednesday by Patrol Superintendent Col. David Dicken.

With the promotion, Fletcher will stay at the Findlay post and serve as an assistant post commander, according to the patrol.

Fletcher began his patrol career in 2002 after graduating from the 139th Academy class and has been assigned to the Findlay post since.


Owens announces holiday schedule
The Toledo and Findlay campuses of Owens Community College will be closed Saturday through Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

There will be no classes and the college offices will be closed.

Classes will resume and offices will open again on Tuesday.


Holiday changes ad deadlines
The Courier won't be published on Monday, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Because of the holiday, some advertising deadlines have been moved up this week:

Black and white display advertising for Tuesday's newspaper must be placed by noon Friday. Display advertising for Wednesday's newspaper must be placed by 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Color display advertising for the Thursday, Sept. 9 newspaper must be placed by Friday.

Classified advertising and City and Country advertising for Saturday's newspaper must be placed by 2 p.m. Friday. Classified ads for Tuesday's newspaper must be placed by 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Courier business and advertising offices will close at 3 p.m. Friday for the holiday.
