Weekend: A night of 'Momedy'
Subscription Offers for The Courier
You don't have to be a mom, or even a woman, to enjoy the humor and clever wit of the hilarious stars of Mama's Night Out -- Karen Morgan, Nancy Witter and Sherry Davey. The Arts Partnership proudly presents Mama's Night Out at 8 p.m. Feb. 27 in Findlay's Central Auditorium.

Mama's Night Out, a stand-up comedy performance, features the trio of professional stand-up comedians, Morgan, Witter and Davey. This unique blend of personalities has been providing audiences with clean but edgy comedy in sold out venues nationwide. Meeting on Nick at Nite's first season of "Search for the Funniest Mom in America," the women, who were each selected as one of the seven finalists, quickly became friends and have been touring with Mama's Night Out ever since.

Morgan, a licensed lawyer in both Georgia and Maine, currently lives with her husband and three children in Maine. After the birth of her children, Morgan took time off from her law practice to raise her children and begin her career as a stand-up comedian. Much of her material for her stand-up routine is derived from her life experience as a mother, trial attorney, and as a southerner living in Maine. Known as Maine's Funniest Mom, Morgan's weekly radio spot, The Mother Load, is featured on the Coast Morning Show and her television segment, "You've Got to be Kidding Me" can be seen each month on WCSH6 -- Portland, Maine. Morgan is also the author of "You Might be a Mama!," which is in bookstores nationwide. In addition to her work with Mama's Night Out, Morgan appears in individual performances for corporate and professional audiences.

Witter is a four-time Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs Award winner and was also chosen by Backstage Magazine as one of the "Top 10 Comedians to Look for in 2005." Witter's stand-up has been described by Back Stage magazine as having "hilarious, razor-sharp delivery and facial double takes like those of the great old-time comediennes." Witter has performed in a number of venues including the legendary Friars Club in New York City, Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and the Borgota Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. Currently, Witter lives in Floral Park, N.Y., with her husband. Drawing on her life experience as a single mother of 20 years who raised two kids by herself, Witter's ability to laugh at her shortcomings and her uniquely funny and honest point of view has always made her an audience favorite.

Born in the U.S. but raised in England, Davey's bi-country life has given her the momentum for her quick-witted, acid-tongued approach to life and stand-up. Davey was featured in several different venues including regular appearances on Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and Premium Blend. Davey also performs at colleges, casinos and comedy clubs across the country and has been named one of the Hollywood Reporter's "Magnificent Seven." Additionally, she was recently named one of the "Top 10 comedians in NYC" by Improper Magazine. Davey appears regularly in New York City at The Comic Strip, The New New York Improv, the New York Comedy Club and Carolines.

Regular admission for Mama's Night Out is $20 for adults and $18 for seniors, students, and children. Member ticket prices are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors, students, and children. All tickets are for reserved seating. Tickets at the door will be $23 for all attendees. Please call The Arts Partnership's box office at 419-422-4624 for tickets and more information, or visit The Arts Partnership's office at 618 South Main Street, Findlay. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
