Two rural Bluffton men have been indicted by a Hancock County grand jury on robbery charges for allegedly robbing and assaulting a Findlay resident early Tuesday.

The grand jury issued second-degree felony charges against Joshua J. Perry, 30, and Joe M. Johns, 22.

According to the Findlay Police Department, Tyler Thompson, 22, of Findlay, was punched in the face and choked by the suspects at 526 G St. at about 12:28 a.m. He also was cut with a knife during the struggle. Items allegedly were taken from Thompson during incident.

The suspects fled the scene, but Thompson reportedly knew one of his assailants, police stated. The suspects were located at Johns' home on Hancock County 313 near Bluffton.

Thompson refused medical treatment, police reported.

Eight other people also were indicted.

The grand jury issued a second-degree felonious assault charge against Joel S. Hernandez, 21, 2201 Massillon Ave., Apt. 11.

Court documents allege that in late August, Hernandez caused physical harm to Kevin Cornwell in Findlay.

An Indiana man was indicted for allegedly having sex with a minor in Findlay last year. James D. Hecker, 21, of West Lafayette, Ind., was indicted for unlawful sexual contact with a minor, a fourth-degree felony.

According to court documents, Hecker allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a minor, knowing the victim was less than 16 years old.

In other grand jury action, Aaron M. Taylor, 21, address unknown, was indicted for burglary, a third-degree felony.

Taylor is accused of trespassing at the Tina Lamb residence at 212 W. McPherson Ave. on Sept. 11 with the intent to commit theft, court records show.

A Fostoria man was indicted for possessing cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. Joshua V. Garner, 25, was accused of possessing less than five grams of cocaine last May in Findlay.

A Maumee man was indicted for trespassing at 490 Ohio 103, Bluffton with the intent of committing theft on Sept. 15. A fifth-degree felony charge of breaking and entering was brought against Charles E. Yager, 55.

The grand jury also indicted Michael S. Stevens, 19, 930 Summit St., for allegedly passing a pair of bad checks, each a fourth-degree felony, to a local dealership.

On Aug. 24 and 28, Stevens allegedly issued two checks -- for $15,098 and $13,182 -- to Tom Ahl, U.S. 224 East, knowing the checks would be dishonored.

Earl L. Williams, 33, of Fostoria, was indicted on a fifth-degree felony charge of non-support or contributing to non-support of dependents. Williams allegedly was 26 weeks in arrears in providing child support payments ordered by Hancock County Common Pleas Court.

Reynold E. Westenbarger, 55, of Fostoria, was accused of knowingly selling or transferring $500 worth of welfare benefits last month. A fifth-degree felony charge of illegal use of food stamps or WIC benefits was filed against Westenbarger.

Those indicted Tuesday are slated to appear next Wednesday in common pleas court.

The recount will be completed on Wednesday at the county elections board office, 336 E. Main Street, Ottawa.

Incumbent Daniel R. Ellerbrock has secured his position on the board, earning 685 votes. However the remaining trustee spot will require a recount as Gery P. Wurth earned 598 votes and Mark J. Kahle collected 601 votes, according to official results.

An automatic recount is necessary if the margin is within one-half of 1 percent of total votes cast, according to state law.
