Division IV Volleyball: Cory-Rawson stops P-Gilboa

PANDORA -- Cory-Rawson's Ashley Flanigan pounded 13 kills and Audrey Inniger was 57-of-59 setting with 19 assists as the Hornets knocked off Pandora-Gilboa 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 in Division IV sectional volleyball tournament action Tuesday.

Kayla Rossman added 18 digs and seven kills, Lauren Hector had six kills and Tricia Flanigan had five for Cory-Rawson. The Hornets (15-8) will face second-seeded Bluffton in Saturday's sectional final.

Kristyn Hovest led Pandora-Gilboa with 13 kills and 13 blocks. Megan Hovest had 10 digs and Brooke Maag 20 assists for the Rockets (13-9).

McCOMB -- The second sectional semifinal at McComb Tuesday night was a barnburner.

Fostoria St. Wendelin advanced to Saturday's sectional finals by outlasting Arlington 25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-9 in a Division IV match.

With the win, the Mohawks (14-9) advance to take on McComb (17-5) in Saturday's 5 p.m. finals. Arlington bowed out of the tournament at 15-6.

Individual stats from the match were unavailable at presstime.

In the first game of the evening, Miranda Palmer and Tiffany Baird were each perfect serving and Arcadia beat North Baltimore 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23.

The Redskins (4-17) play Van Buren (16-6) for a sectional title at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Palmer was 17-17 serving and Baird was 9-9 serving for the Redskins. Anna Sopher led the team with 10 kills and Courtney Garcia added 22 digs for Arcadia (4-17).

Courtney Lincoln had a solid night for North Baltimore (2-20) with nine points and three aces on 16-of-17 serving, and seven kills on 12-of-14 spiking.

Megan Grilliot was 36-of-38 spiking with four kills and 11 digs for the Tigers.

HARROD -- Ada servers were right on target and the Bulldogs advanced to the Division IV sectional finals at Allen East with a 25-17, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22 victory over Hardin County rival Upper Scioto Valley Tuesday.

Ada moves on to face Waynesfield-Goshen on Saturday at 3 p.m. for the sectional title.

The Bulldogs converted 97-of-98 serves. Kenzie Fell was 27-of-28 serving with eight points. She also had six kills on 10-of-12 spiking.

Lindsay Simmons was 20-of-20 serving with seven points and five digs for Ada.

Nikki Gryzboski was 17-of-17 serving with seven points. She was also 70-of-71 setting with 30 assists.

MOUNT BLANCHARD -- Lauren Jacoby had two aces and 11 kills to help Carey to a 25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-16 victory over Hardin Northern Tuesday in a Division IV sectional match.

Also at Riverdale, Morgan Hotelling had five points and two aces for Vanlue in its 25-10, 25-14, 25-8 loss to Mohawk.

Morgan Wentling helped Jacoby with 19 assists and two aces. Brye Johnson was 18-of-18 passing.

Johnson and Morgan Draper led Carey's defensive effort with 10 digs each. Hannah Tong and Bo Underwood had two blocks each.

Carey will take on Riverdale Thursday at 8:15 p.m. for the sectional title.

In the Vanlue match, Amber Kloepfer contributed six kills, while Kelsie Ward had five assists. Dustie Ward led Vanlue's defense with 11 digs. Logan Frey had four digs and one block.

Mohawk will next face Wynford Thursday at 6:15 p.m. for the sectional title.

AT LINCOLNVIEW

VAN WERT -- Tasha Kaufman slammed nine kills and added 18 assists and 13 digs to lead Ottoville past Wayne Trace 25-19, 26-24, 25-16 in a Division IV sectional semifinal v at Lincolnview Tuesday.

With the win, the Big Green (12-9) will play Convoy Crestview (14-8) for the sectional title Saturday at 5 p.m.

Rayman added nine kills, Shelby Romey had five blocks and four kills and Samantha Modica chipped in six kills and six blocks to lead the Big Green at the net. Melany Honigford added 13 assists, Chelsea Ditto 13 digs and Bridget Miller was 20-of-20 serving with three aces.



AT MILLER CITY

MILLER CITY -- Courtney Niese was 41-of-43 spiking with 16 kills in Miller City's 25-15, 25-23, 25-19 victory over Holgate Tuesday in a Division II sectional match in Miller City.

Miller City (5-18) will next take on Columbus Grove at home Saturday at 3 p.m.

Olivia Rump also contributed to Miller City's offense as she was 20-of-20 serving with three aces. Marci Palte was 76-of-78 setting with 26 assists.

Dana Otto led Miller City's defense with three digs. Otto and Toni Steffan had one block each.
