University of Findlay men's basketball head coach Ron Niekamp has announced the signing of three players to letters of intent.
Sean Sampsel, Greg Kahlig and Mark Frilling will compete for the Oilers beginning with the 2010-11 campaign.
Sampsel, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound guard from Dupont Manual High School in Louisville, Ky., was named second team all-Metro as a junior. He was also named the most valuable player of the prestigious Five Star Camp in Pittsburgh this summer and was the 2009 Joe B. Hall Classic MVP. Sampsel averaged 13 points, 5 assists and 3 steals per game last season.
Kahlig, a 6-5, 200-pound forward from Fort Recovery, averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game as a junior. A two-time, first team all-Midwest Athletic Conference selection, Kahlig was named third team all-Ohio last season after drawing honorable mention all-state as a sophomore.
Frilling, a 6-6, 210-pound forward from Fort Loramie, helped lead his team to the regional finals during his junior season as he averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. A honorable mention all-state pick, Frilling was named first team all-Shelby County League as well as first team all-Southwest District.
The three signees will join a 2009-2010 class which includes freshmen Jack Smith (Cincinnati Hughes), Chris Baldwin (Miland Edison), Aaron Robinson (Trotwood Madison) and JoVaughn Brown (Bedford Chanel), along with sophomore Greg Avery who is from Newark via Western Carolina.
Kid from KY I think the kid from Ky is Samsel not Sampsel.
