Murder case: Bond set for two
Hancock Federal Credit Union
By JORDAN CRAVENS

staff Writer

After allegedly shooting and killing Findlay resident David Snyder on Oct. 18, Cornelius Patterson Jr. fled to Toledo along with his girlfriend, Stacey R. Combs, who at some point was in possession of the murder weapon, according to Hancock County Prosecutor Mark Miller.

On the way, the two picked up Combs' children and then "deposited" them at her mother's residence in Wood County before going into hiding, Miller said Wednesday.

"I use the term 'deposited' intentionally, because these children were left outside and had to knock at the door while the two fled," Miller said during a bond hearing at the Hancock County Justice Center.

Hancock County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Niemeyer continued a $1 million bond for Patterson set by Findlay Municipal Judge Kevin Smith last month.

Patterson, 30, of Findlay, was indicted last week by a county grand jury and charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, improper discharging of a firearm at or into a habitation, and tampering with evidence.

The bond for Combs, 30, also of Findlay, was set at $15,000, despite a request by Miller for a $50,000 bond.

She has been charged with obstructing justice for allegedly helping Patterson flee the city.

Snyder was shot and killed in his residence at Melrose Manor Apartments, 2200 Jennifer Lane, on Oct. 18. Authorities believe Patterson, Snyder's downstairs neighbor, fired the single bullet from a handgun that killed him.

The shooting came after an argument between Snyder and Combs, police have said.

Both Patterson and Combs were set to be arraigned Wednesday, but neither had an attorney present for their hearings and therefore did not enter pleas.

Before Judge Niemeyer established bond for Patterson, Miller said there were several witnesses in the case, and argued that Patterson would be a flight risk if bond were reduced.

Miller said Patterson was arrested by Toledo police last month in a bathroom at a Toledo residence.

"I don't consider myself a flight risk," Patterson said at his hearing. "I wasn't out running from this case."

Patterson said he does have ties to Hancock County as he is a student at Brown Mackie College in Findlay and his children go to school here.

"I don't have any plans from running from this jurisdiction because I feel I can stay here and fight this case," Patterson said.

Arraignments for Patterson and Combs were continued until Nov. 12.

“ NO PLANS FROM RUNNING BECAUSE HE CAN STAY HERE AND FIGHT THIS CASE??

I DON'T SERIOUSLY KNOW HOW?? IT WAS NOT SELF DEFENSE FOR!

SO HOW CAN YOU FIGHT A CASE LIKE THIS WHEN HE KICKED IN HIS FRONT DOOR ??
AND SHOT AND KILLED HIM!!

AND AS FAR AS THE TERM THE PROSECUTOR USED "DEPOSITED" THAT WAS A VERY GOOD ONE. ALTHOUGH "DUMPED OFF" WOULD OF BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE!!
HOW CAN A MOTHER DO THAT TO HER CHILDREN?? LEFT OUTSIDE!!!
JUST TO RUN AND HIDE WITH HER BOYFRIEND!!
NO MAN IS WORTH ALL THAT!!

FINDLAY SERIOUSLY HAS A PROBLEM WITH ALOT OF THE MOTHERS AROUND HERE AND THEIR PRIORITIES!!
ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO ARE OUT AND FREQUENT THE BARS ALOT!!

PERSONALLY WITH ALL THAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN, THIS GUY HAS NO CHANCE OF "BEATING THIS CASE"!!
IT WAS SENSELESS AND SO THEREFORE HE DESERVES TO GO TO PRISON!!
