Prep Track: Stratton will continue her career at No. Florida
BLUFFTON — There will be no more running in 50 degree temperatures in May for Bluffton High School track standout Bonnie Stratton after she graduates.

The Pirates' sprinting stalwart will be headed south to continue her athletic and academic career at the University of North Florida after signing a national letter of intent Friday.

The school, located in Jacksonville, Fla., competes in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Sun Conference.

"We are tremendously excited to have Bonnie join are team," said UNF head coach Mark VanAlstyne in a press release.

"We feel that her combination of character, work ethic and talent will make her a force in the Atlantic Sun Conference."

A two-time Ohio High School Atheltic Association Division III defending state champion in the 200-meter dash, Stratton also won the 100-meter dash at the state meet last season.

She led Bluffton to a fifth place state team finish each of the last two years and has placed seven times at the OHSAA-sponsored state tournament during her career.

She holds school records in the 100- (12.05) and 200- (24.62) and has anchored Bluffton's school-record 400 (49.49) and 800 (1:43.9) relays teams. Stratton has earned letters in soccer and volleyball and was voted the Northwest Conference Female Track Athlete of the Year in 2008.
