University of Findlay sophomore guard Laura Bardall was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week Monday.
Bardall averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in a pair of victories over Hillsdale College and Urbana University.
In the Oilers 77-63 win at Hillsdale, Bardall led the way with a season-high 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and three assists. She then followed with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists in Findlay's 77-54 win at home against Urbana.
On the season, Bardall is averaging 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She is also shooting 53.4 percent from the floor, 59.1 percent from the 3-point line and 83.7 percent from the charity stripe.
ONU duo honored
ADA -- Ohio Northern senior Andrew Benchic and junior Brent Donley were named to the D3Football.com All-America team for 2009.
Benchic was a second team All-America selection and Donley was a third team selection.
Benchic is a two-time first team All-OAC honoree, earning the award each of the last two seasons. He started 30 games in his career at guard and center, including all 10 as a sophomore in 2006, 10 as a junior in 2008 and all 10 this season.
Donley is also two-time first team All-OAC award winner, after earning the honor in both his sophomore and junior seasons.
This year, Donley led the OAC in rushing and became just the 12th Polar Bear to eclipse the 1,000-yard plateau with 1,104 yards and 16 TDs.
He will enter his senior season ranked 15th all-time at ONU with 1,790 rushing yards.
Indoor track meet set
ADA -- The Western Ohio Track Officials will hod their eighth annual high school indoor elite track and field meet Jan. 2 at the Ohio Northern University Sports Center. Field events will get under way at 10 a.m.; running events begin at noon.
Athletes can compete as individuals or on teams. The meet will also serve as a qualifier for the Coaches State Indoor Championships. All entries must be made Online using www.baumspage.com. Any questions should be directed to Jason Maus at 419-772-2451.
