After fighting a house fire early Monday at 815 Howard St., firefighters found 20 marijuana plants in the residence.
"They ran across it and called us," said police Sgt. Justin Hendren with the Hancock County METRICH Drug Enforcement Unit.
Police seized all 20 plants, and Hendren said charges are pending.
High-powered growing lights, fans, and a box filled with dried marijuana were also found in the house, according to a police report.
Investigators said an electrical short started the fire before 3 a.m. Monday.
The blaze caused an estimated $12,000 in damage to the residence, owned by Amanda Crawford. No one was injured, according to the Findlay Fire Department.

Latest comments listed first.I ride, and I know it's fun to open those pipes up on a nice spring day, I've done it myself. I do think it's as much our responsibility to make sure we can avoid a potential collision. If you ride you know it happens. You know there are people like bob out there and have to be prepared for them.
These were accidents. Horrible accidents. The drivers at fault did not mean to cause someone death. Before anyone else gets on their high horse- remember today could be the day that you cause an accident with ONE second of inattention.
I also think that what these drivers have to live with is punishment enough. Could ANY of you imagine what it would feel like to have taken someone's life? I understand the families of ones killed want to see more punishment- but they are speaking out of grief. Perfectly reasonable grief but we as a society have to know that we cannot give every person what they want to ease their pain. Some grief-stricken family members would go as far as to commit acts of violence or try to get a person locked up for life to "avenge" their loved one. And no I am not saying this specifically about those involved in these accidents- just in general.
I think the lesson that needs to be learned here and maybe what everyone should be discussing is how can we improve the safety of ALL people on the roadways and sidewalks? What needs to be done to ensure as our population grows, our accidents do not?
I dont think you know the facts about the Buis accident either. There is no way he was going between 70-80 mph, when he would have just pulled onto Blanchard from Melrose. If you want to talk about facts, get a copy of the police report:
Contributing circumstances from motorcyclist: NONE
Contributing circumstances from car: FAILURE TO YIELD.
Speed detected from motorcyclist: 35
Speed detected from car: 30.
The witness interview by the police stated that it appeared that Bill was going the speed limit. I think that most people would notice if he was going 70-80 mph.
Dont post information that you can not back up. Perhaps you were thinking of your own high speed chase a few months ago, and you are confused.
I am sure your sister regrets the accident, and I feel sorry for her. I pray that everyone can move on from this tragedy, but please dont state that it was Bills fault when you dont know the facts.
I think some are failing to see the point is the driver of the car killed someone. What if it was your child walking and was ran over and killed? Would it be your child's fault for not wearing a helmet? Or for not having super powers to jump and miss getting hit?
" Gee officer, I was setting in my own drive way and put the car in reverse then my phone rang and I kind of forgot I had already put the car in gear and took my foot off the brake by accident when talking to my BFF and my car rolled backwards and ran over my neighbors 2 year old daughter and killed her." I didn't mean to not pay attention to what I was doing behind a 3000 lb death machine, but the kid shouldn't have been playing in the driveway in the first place". GET REAL!!!!!! Take Responsibility!!!!!!
As far as volunteering for the ER, I spent 15 years in the Medical field in the US ARMY, I've done my share of burnt body identification, and assisted in more than 1 motorcycle wreck autopsies! Some motorcyclists do cause their own demise, ie: drugs or alcohol, but that number is very low, and that wasn't the case in either of these two deaths! The subject here was about a human loosing their life due to someone not paying attention, motorcyclists don't want special treatment because we are on a motorcycle, we just want people to be more responsible who drive cars. Motorcycles don't kill people, people kill people!!!!!
