Prep Track: Croy and Bassitt lead way for Ottawa-Glandorf at Lima Bath
LIMA -- Ottawa-Glandorf's Nolan Croy and Lindsey Bassitt swept the hurdles to lead area athletes at Saturday's Ehresman Memorial Invitational at Lima Bath.
Ottawa-Glandorf's girls had a big day as the Titans racked up 119 points to finish second to Lima Shawnee (133) in the nine-team field. Bluffton finished fourth (66).
Hannah Kaufman was a double winner for the Titans as she captured the 200 (26.3) and teamed with Kim Bingley, Jenna Ellerbrock and Kaylee Borer to win the 1,600 relay (4:18.8). Kori Bruns added a victory in the long jump (15-1/4).
Bassitt cruised to victory in the 100 intermediate (16.6) and 300 low (50.6) hurdles for Bluffton. Teammate Lydia Guagenti added a win in the high jump (4-10).
Wapakoneta topped Paulding 124-93 for the boys title. Ottawa-Glandorf outscored Bluffton 69-50 for third place.
Croy crossed the finish line in 15.3 to win the 110 high hurdles and posted a time of 41.7 in taking the 300 hurdles.
Bo Zeigler was second in the shot put (50-5) and Zac Guagenti was runner-up in the 200 (23.7) to lead the Pirates.

BOWLING GREEN -- Mike Benton was a double winner to lead Leipsic's boys to fourth place at Saturday's Bowling Green Bobcat Invitational.
Defiance topped Fremont Ross 172-123½ for the team title. The Vikings checked in with 64 points.
Benton swept to victories in the 100 (10.9) and 200 (23.1) while teammate Mitch Gibson added a victory in the shot put (46-3). Jason Butler was second in the 110 (15.1) and 300 (41.4) hurdles. Sonny Hernandez was runner-up in the 400 (54.9).
Defiance also won the girl's meet as the Bulldogs outscored Napoleon 137-127. Leipsic was sixth with 28 points.
Shannon Nadler was second in the high jump (4-10) and Kendra Averesch runner-up in the shot put (35-8) to lead Leipsic.

MORRAL -- Carey's Corey Harrold swept the shot put and discus to lead the Blue Devils track team at Saturday's Ridgedale Invitational.
The host Rockets took the boys title with a 119-83 margin over Fredericktown. Hopewell-Loudon (63) was fourth and Carey (56) finished fifth.
A returning Division III state placer in the discus, Harrold captured his specialty with a toss of 156-31/2. He took the shot with a throw of 50-91/4.
Tyler Wise led Hopewell-Loudon's boys team by winning the 1,600 (4:54.0). He added a second-place effort in the 800 (2:09.9).
Wynford rolled to the girls crown with 137 points. Carey (71) was fourth and Hopewell-Loudon (36¾) ended up 10th.
Brye Johnson posted the top finish for the Blue Devils as she was second in the pole vault (8-0).
Mary Ellen McAllister netted a second place effort in the 300 low hurdles (52.5) to lead the Chieftains.
